The requirements

  • A $390 presort mailing fee every 12 months at the office where you mail.
  • A permit or another postage method, and presort software to do the sorting.

Why use a presort service

Most of those requirements are fixed costs. A presort service or mail house has already paid the fees, owns the software and holds the permits, and can combine your mail with other customers' to reach finer sorts. You get commercial prices without the setup.
